Waves of Change Events

Waves of Change Events are created to initiate positive change and ‘get on board’ for co-creating the Future We Want. These Events are designed to bring together a wide-platform of partners and stakeholders from all sectors of society through specific themes that are chosen to create right relationship and synergy between the environmental, social, economic and political dimensions of our society.

The first theme that was chosen for the Waves of Change Events and Campaigns is: Keep our Islands Clean and Beautiful – Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, co-funded by the European Union through the IOC-ISLANDS project. The Arts for Awareness exhibition that is part of this Campaign will circulate around Mauritius for further awareness raising.  The Waves of Change quarterly Newsletter will serve to share news from the Waves of Change community and partners.

Ongoing Event Activities in Mauritius

Events that are part of this campaign will continue to take place, to raise awareness and take actions to change the growing problems of human over-consumption, waste accumulation and unconscious production, and address the impact this has on our eco-systems and in particular our oceans.

Background Information

Through the Arts exhibition, the work and outcomes from the One Future One Planet Benitier Project have been presented. This project started in August 2012 and brought together hundreds of volunteers and nine partner organisation in the cleaning-up of Benitier Island, situated on the West Coast of Mauritius. The waste collected from this Island has since been transformed into “Art for Awareness” by a group of committed volunteers, including those from the One Future One Planet Community.
